I am trying to apply to Grad Schools in NYC and get an MBA but my GPA is not that good.?

I graduated from nyu undergard and my gpa is a 2.4. I am not going for the top tier schools like colombia or nyu but would like to get into baruch or fordham which would suit my standards. I am planning to take the gmats and hopefully get a superb grade on it so it can compensate for my lack luster undergrad gpa. I have also been working for the last several years until now. If I kill the gmats do i still have a chance at getting acceptance to any of these schools? What other schools have a good name in the NYC area? I am aiming for concentration in mathematics and statistics... Thanks!
