Please explain the lingo?

hope someone can help, im new on here ( been trying for 18 mths by the way) and reading all the questions with interest. Only thing is i dont understand a lot of the abbreviations, i am trying to figure them out as i am reading, but my brain is starting to hurt, could someone be kind enough to give me a rundown on some of them please.
